The famous ‘Torhalle’ entrance to the once mighty Lorsch Abbey is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the few architectural vestiges of the Carolingian era. The former Benedictine abbey was founded in 764 by Willeswinda and her son Count Cancor, representatives of the well-known Franconian noble family Rupertiner. The Lorsch Pharmacopoeia originates from the same era. It was written by Benedictine monks in the Lorsch Abbey and is now included in the UNESCO Memory of the World Register. The Lorsch Pharmacopoeia provides insights into early medieval monastic medicine and represents a milestone in the overall history of medicine. Back then, the monks cultivated medicinal plants in the abbey’s garden and studied their effects. Today, the monastic medicinal plant garden has been fully recreated thanks to donations from the company Dr. Reckeweg.
Health management for our staff
The health of our staff is very important to us. That’s why Dr. Reckeweg has an occupational health management system in place. Employees are systematically trained and educated on various aspects of health, such as sitting properly at the workplace, gymnastics exercises for the office, healthy eating and emergency first aid. In addition, we maintain regular dialogue with regional sports clubs and institutions on the subject of health, so that we can offer our staff a wide range of health tips.
